Bio … Come meet us
Dr. Steve Wyckoff
Hi. I’m Steve. I’m a semi retired educator. By semi retired I mean I’m spending more hours, and working just as hard as I ever have, but I do get a check every month from the state. The biggest difference between now and before I was retired is that I only work on projects that really interest me now.
I have been in public education since 1972. I have taught at the middle and high school levels, and served as a building level administrator for over a decade. I have worked in school improvement and school reform since 1992. In addition I have taught at the university level in educational administration and lead superintendents in their study of the future.
I have been employed at ESSDACK* since 1991. Beginning as the School Improvement Specialist I worked with ESSDACK schools as they began the accreditation process through QPA. Today my duties center around Schools Of The Future working with ESSDACK staff, educators, board members, and other policy makers on the transition of schools in the information age.
I officially retired September 1, 2005 but is still employed at ESSDACK on a part time basis. I serves as a observer/liaison between ESSDACK and KSDE helping coordinate activities and interactions between the two agencies. I also am intimately involved with the redesign of the organization for the 21st century.
* ESSDACK: the Educational Services and Staff Development Association of Central Kansas, is a regional education service Center located in Hutchison Kansas. While officially considered to be a school district, ESSDACK has no taxing ability. It is a voluntary association made up of over 50 member districts, Catholic diocese, and some associate members from post secondary institutions.
